This gnarly Zinfandel is named for our spirited Quarter Horse, Westwind. It is produced from World War II era vines planted by Jessie over 60 years ago. Our Westwind Zinfandel vines have a lot of personality, one parcel gives off round fruit flavors, the second—rich deep spice notes. Blend them together, and you get an amazingly balanced wine of tannins, anise, and bramble fruits.

99 Point Review - Master Somm Catherine Fallis With so many vines approaching their hundredth birthday, and some even older, it is arguable that Lodi Zinfandel is the best in the world. This wine is incredibly complex, rich and balanced at the same time, with notes of cherry, blueberry, raspberry, root beer, cherry cola, molasses, dark chocolate with pomegranate jelly, Salvadorian coffee, earth, and porcini dust. It is full, round, layered and plush, much like a young vintage port, but not sweet and slightly, very slightly, lower in alcohol. The finish is long and delicious, and brings a refreshing acidity to the palate.
