WOW!! WHAT CAN I SAY - REALLY? This wine is made from 2 OLD-VINE (45 year old), Head-pruned vineyards on the floor of Dry Creek Valley. Hidden away on the flats in an older area of West Matheson, these vines were overgrown by grasses and weeds. I rescued them and am truly impressed with the qualiity!! The wine is very concentrated white pepper and stargazer lilly fragrances - very similar to the very expensive Rhone Wines made at Guigal!!! Dense fruit flavors complemented by toasty oak, vanilla cream, and jammy-blackberry fruit aromas and flavors. Grapes were crushed into 1-ton open topped tanks and punched down by hand before pressing and filling barrels. The wine was aged in small French and American oak barrels for 15 months prior to bottling.
