Made from the Rutherford AVA, one of the premier sub appellations within Napa Valley. The well drained volcanic soils of Rutherford are responsible for the famed “Rutherford Dust” that only wines from this AVA can posses. This single vineyard wine was sourced from Rutherford Ridge Vineyard, owned by Pine Ridge Winery.
The 2012 vintage was a superb growing season in Napa Valley, optimal ripeness combined with a smooth balance of acid and sugar levels. The fruit was hand harvested at night, carefully sorted and destemmed to tank. Fermentation took place over 15 days with three punch downs per day. Post fermentation the wine was racked to barrel (20% new French), where it aged for 12 months prior to bottling.
On first taste the wine exhibits a youthful character of fresh cherry and blueberry compote. As the wine develops in the glass; mocha, fine tannins and a silky texture are expressed. This wine continues to show its pedigree and has the power to reward 10+ years of age.
