The 2009 Super Sonoman Meritage is a combination of Three Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyards, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. The aromatics show perfumed aromas of ripe berries and violet, with a hint of mocha and tobacco. On the palate the wine is showy and expressive with dark fruit flavors, black licorice, kirsch and layers of tobacco and leather on the finish. Tannins and raisin flavor are very prominent in this dry, high-altitude, single vineyard, low-yield Bordeaux blend. It offers rich notes of blackberry tart, dark chocolate and roasted almonds. The mouth feel is silky with a velvety texture with sweet tannin and impressive depth. There’s a slightly exotic character to the stone fruit flavors, coupling the smoky oak and bitter chocolate flavors. This is a sexy wine that induces conversation.
