The 2012 Kivelstadt Syrah has a deep dark purple core with intense aromas of blackcurrants, mushrooms, and leather, with hints of Carpaccio and wild thyme. On the palate, this full-bodied Syrah balances plush ripe tannins with pleasant acidity and exciting flavors of ripe blueberries, roasted figs, crushed herbs, lavender, and cedar box. This wine is enjoyable now, but will continue to develop over the next 5-8 years.
This full-bodied Syrah pairs well with braised short ribs, roasted leg of lamb, wild boar stew, grilled portobello mushrooms and roasted root vegetables.
