The unique terroir of the Mount Veeder AVA produces wines that are typically powerful in structure. Our signature 2011 Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vineyard with 1200 feet elevation, steep slopes and sedimentary clay and volcanic soils that restrict the root growth, which is producing grapes with small berries and intense fruit flavors. The Cabernet Sauvignon grape selection is clone 337. Harvested at the beginning of October, followed by 3 days cold soak maceration and fermented for 15 days and then racked into barrels. This Iconic Napa Cabernet has aged in 100% French barrels (60% new oak) for 37 months. True to the Mount Veeder AVA, this wine exhibits dark concentrated fruit flavors of blueberry, cassis and blackberry and bold well integrated fine-grained tannins. A hint of mountain forest, cedar and rich vanilla French oak flavors also combine these aromatics to create this massively rich full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. This cult Napa Valley Cabernet should mature well over the next 20 years. Only 3 barrels produced , or 79 cases.
