There is no coincidence that this wine is named after the Colossal Squid - the largest and most mysterious of all cephalopods. This wonderfully dark brooding wine is big and bold with aromas of black cherry, cassis, and tobacco.

Approachable and fruit forward, this big, juicy Cabernet has a wonderfully long finish with hints of spicy, dark fruit, a dash of vanilla, and silky, round tannins. Great with a hearty meal, it’s also a joy to drink on it’s own whilst pondering the sea creatures of the deep.

Enjoy now and over the next 5–10 years.

Vineyard Notes

The Colossus is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Syrah. The Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from Shasté Vineyard, a small family-owned, sustainably farmed vineyard located on a rocky hillside above Glenn Ellen.

The Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in 2000, is a mix of clone 15 & 337. The grapes had a long, slow ripening season and were harvested at the end of October. The Syrah is from the Furlong Estates Vineyard located at the northwest end of the Alexander Valley, just south of Cloverdale. The steep sloped, well-drained rocky soil produces small, intensely flavored grapes.
