VELLUM Black is a micro-production blend of two classic Bordeaux varietals. It should be decanted gently, served at cellar temperature and enjoyed by lovers of big bold wines.
The 2013 Vellum Black is dominated by massive, inky, black fruit, yet at once it is strikingly silky, resolute and highly defined. The nose is ladened with heady notes of wild blueberry, dried tamarind, cardamom and bramble.
The high, full fore-mouth volume of fruit transitions with a seamless purpose across the entire breadth of the palate. Here, a great depth from blueberry, vanilla bean, and black raspberry compote flavors grabs immediate attention.
This ample wine is framed by early adroit and developed, expansive tannins. Both are smartly delivered and knit together a long succulent and persistent finish. Age up to 20+ years.
Perfectly matched with beef, lamb, BBQ… or enjoy on its own with a fine cigar.
