The wine bursts with a signature quince character, followed by dried apple and nutmeg. Background notes that give the signature of the site are aromas of dried wildflower and wildflower honey.
The well-integrated oak appears as whispers of raw pie dough and vanilla. The entry starts off bright and lively, moving quickly to a round palate, reminiscent of agave nectar, followed by a long, elegant finish.
This wine will pair well with anything from creamy cheese and rich pasta dishes to fresh seafood and crisp salads. Serve between 45-55 degrees. Like the great chardonnays of the world, it is built to age at least 10 years.
Vineyard Notes
The grapes were harvested from the Ruhl family’s small Mt. Veeder vineyard in the very southern part of the appellation on the Mayacamas range, bordering the Carneros appellation.
This vineyard is at approximately 900 ft. elevation, just above the fog line. The vineyard has three exposures: level, east facing, and south east facing. The soil is well-drained rocky, shale and clay, slightly on the acidic side, with a 5-6 ft. depth.
