There are blackberry cobbler flavors, with a tangy and tart finish and a bit more tannins on the finish. The yields were great after the 2011 rains, so 2012 was a great year and the first of 4 great vintages, getting only 2 tons per acre.
Vineyard Notes
The Russian River Valley lies to the south of Alexander Valley, and is marked by much cooler temperatures and frequently heavy fog. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown here are some of the state’s finest and most sought-after.
The Ricci Vineyard lies on Limerick Lane in the eastern reaches of the Russian River Valley. Here the weather is warmer, as the fog lifts a bit earlier than in the western areas. The vines are 30-40 years old.
