This wine artfully combines fragrant strawberry and blackberry aromas with earthy, cocoa dust undertones. Flavors of harmonious red and black fruits including tart plums are underpinned by spice.
A high note of acidity balances the wine’s silky mouthfeel and shapes its harmonious and persistent finish.
Vineyard Notes
The 131-acre Smith Vineyard sits at the highest elevation of Hahn’s vineyards, its vines planted along the contours of ridges and valleys of the mountains. At 590 to 1,280 feet, it boasts eastern exposure above the fog line for a long growing season. Ample sunshine its deep, well-draining alluvial soils contribute to this Pinot Noir’s rich dark fruit flavors, vibrant acidity and elegant, silky texture.
A few exotic Pinot Noir clones (such as Jardini, Calera and Mt. Eden) have been spectacularly successful in this vineyard, lending additional nuance and complexity to this wine.
