Garnet red with violet nuances. Fruity, sweet, and spicy aromas recall ripe black fruits and plums over a complex backdrop with a note of licorice. Flavorful on the palate with well-structured, complex tannins and fresh acidity.

The 2014 vintage benefitted from scant precipitation, a pronounced daily temperature oscillation during the ripening period, and generally excellent health conditions. It was a warm, dry year, which resulted in earlier phenolic ripening and, in cooler sectors such as Marchigüe, guaranteed complete ripening in the tannins.

The Carmenere from this vintage is characterized by an abundance of fruity notes and a lack of pyrazines.

Vineyard Notes

Marchigüe Vineyards are located in Marchigüe, Colchagua Valley, 32 km from the sea. 128 Hectares were planted, primarily to Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, in 2004, 2008 and 2011.

The climate is Mediterranean, with a cold influence from the coast due to the Humboldt Current, and is exceptional for the production of red wines with tremendous character and freshness. The average temperature during the ripening period is close to 25ºC, and the annual precipitation is 350–400 mm.

Marchigüe offers an ideal climate for growing red varieties that ripen fully. The grapes ripen more slowly here than they do in the other sectors of the Colchagua Valley, and this encourages aromatic intensity and character in the wines.

The soil is of of granitic origin with the presence of weathering bedrock and a high degree of mineralization. The soils vary greatly within the different sectors of the vineyard, and there are areas with a higher presence of granite, angular stones in process of mineralization, and quartz, as well as red granite with a high amount of iron, which transfers tremendous character to the wines.

The sandy texture is mixed in different proportions with the sand throughout the profile.
