Flocchini Syrah tends to be dark colored, aromatically complex and full bodied. This wine is no exception; Medium-dark purple, showing more forward and ripe dark fruit aromas plus black pepper, earth, and spice. Bolder and more structured in the mouth, finishing with chewy tannins that will take some bottle age to smooth out.
A very rich and provocative wine at only 13.3% alcohol. Aged for 13 months in once-used French oak barrels. Enjoy now or hold for the next 6-12 years.
Vineyard Notes
Flocchini Vineyard/Sonoma Coast/Petaluma Gap
The Petaluma Gap growing region is fast becoming known for producing balanced, delicious cool climate Syrah. The vineyard is located along Old Lakeville Road Number 3, southeast of Petaluma. The block we take is on a gentle west facing slope above the Petaluma River.
The Flocchini family traditionally ran dairy cows on their property but planted a portion of it to Syrah grapes, clones Noir and 877, in 2002. They use stored surface water to irrigate during the growing season.
