Tasting Notes

This is an atypical rich and intense Cinsault that explodes strawberry and spiced rhubarb pie in the glass. Cinsault has the elegant weight of a Pinot and the wild berry fruit-forward attitude of a Zinfandel.

Food Pairings: Peking duck, roasted chicken, lamb burgers, carnitas tacos, Thanksgiving dinner.

Vineyard Notes

At Bechthold Vineyard, the oldest vineyard in Lodi, 130 year old Cinsault vines are head trained, organically grown and dry farmed. The age of the vines yields a small crop, giving rich complex flavor to the fruit in this vineyard. Onesta is one of 10 different wineries working with fruit from this one of a kind vineyard, harvesting from the weakest block where the vines produce the most concentrated fruit. Average crop load is only 3 tons/acre, which is extremely low for Cinsault.
