Winemaker Notes

This is a classically styled Napa Valley Bordeaux blend with ripe plum and raspberry notes, complimented by hints of cedar and graphite. Soft tannins give way to a bold, lengthy finish. Each year, we take pride in blending and releasing our Master Red blend. Our 2016 vintage is, once again, a year to remember. A classic Napa Valley blend offers red fruit aromas with generous red plum, currant, raspberry and cocoa flavors. Soft tannins lead to a long, broad finish. The grapes for this blend were sourced from St. Helena, Coombsville and Oak Knoll.

2016 Vintage Recap

The 2016 California wine grape harvest was early, with a mostly normal yield of exceptional quality fruit throughout the state. A relatively even growing season followed welcome winter rains that helped to alleviate the drought. Although bud break in the North Bay was early this year, it’s been a cooler season. The area didn’t get the normal high heat in July and August, which provided for a longer hang time for the grapes. The grapes ripened uniformly and, while yields are a bit lower than normal, the flavors are great. The harvest has been smooth and progressed from varietal to varietal.
