As our club members know, we always use our estate vineyard on Mt. Veeder as the foundation to this wine. For this vintage, our proprietary blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, Spring Mountain, and Howell Mountain. Like the Coombsville area, Mt. Veeder is always one of the last appellations to ripen during the season. Adding a percentage of Cabernet from Howell mountain added to the complexity of the wine, and filled out the body on the mid-palate. We also are excited to include Seguin Moreau Icone barrels for the first time to our oak lineup.
On the nose, the wine is red fruit dominant, co-mingled with spices such as Herbes de Provence, and hints of toasted oak.
As you begin to taste, the wine immediately exhibits great structure of fine grain tannins from both the mountain fruit and the French oak and grips the mid-palate. The rich body of red fruit is complimented with hints of vanilla. This wine is rich, so we do recommend some time in the decanter if you want to enjoy it now. We believe it’s prime drinking window to be between 10-15 years.
