Winemaker’s Notes:
Half way between Santa Rosa and the town of Occidental on Occidental Road is Jim Moore’s vineyard. The vineyard is planted to a varitey of Pinot Noir clones. The 2013 Alta offering is a combination of four clones: Pommard, 114, 115, and 777. All clones were fermented seperatly in 1.5 ton brand new Rossueas open top French oak fermentation vats. The wine went through ML fermentation and was aged for ten months in 50% new and 50% second year French oak barrels. Racked just once. Unfiltered and unfinned.
Tasting Notes:
This is a medium bodied Pinot Noir with lovely acidity, harmony, structure, and elegance coming from a truly great site. It is complex, yet easy going and wholesome wine. Perfumed nose of raspberries and cherries. Soft and elegant, it is very well balanced and hedonistic without being over the top. Hints of caramel and coconuts on the long finish.
