Inspired by the summer tradition, Clambake is not your typical California Chardonnay. The grapes in this bottle were grown in a particularly brisk valley and picked in their youth to produce crispier expression of Chardonnay than you may be used to. The end result is a delicate wine bursting with notes of fresh lemon and clean minerality that will make your clambake food sing a bit louder (and cut through the butter, too). But lest we forget, Chardonnay is still king, so there’s enough body and richness to stand up to potatoes and meaty lobsters. I guess you could say Chardonnay traded in his crown for flip-flops this evening.
