Poggio alle Mura is the historical name of the 12th century fortress crowning the Banfi vineyard estate. Today the castle has been christened Castello Banfi .

Vineyards

Dedicated vineyards sloping down from the historic Poggio alle Mura Castle crowning our estate. We chose this patch of land, particularly suited to grow Sangiovese, to plant, in 1992, the first vineyard resulting from over a decade of research to isolate the optimal selection of clones. Altitude is 210-220 meters above sea level on this hillside.

Production

The grape harvest is followed by vinification in Horizon hybrid stainless steel & wood tanks, with skin contact for 7-10 days. After an aging period of 12 months in French oak barriques, the wine is properly bottle-aged.
