Very pleasant, persistent, of a good complexity. Marked fruity notes of underbrush and cherry combined with palatable spicy notes of black pepper, tobacco and cocoa.

Situated between 825 to 1,000 feet in elevation, Bibbiano’s vineyards face either northeast or south. From the south-facing side comes the single-vineyard Chianti Classico Vigna del Capannino. The exposure gives it more breadth and power. The northeast-facing slope consists of yellow and red clay, plus sand and chalk; the south-facing side is gray clay and is the source of the Vigne di Montornello, a firmly structured, vibrant Chianti Classico that can age well, though can be a bit austere in its youth. The Sangiovese for Montornello is typically harvested 10 to 20 days after the rest of the estate due to its exposure.
