The 2009 Qupe Sonnie’s Syrah is a blend of six different Syrah clones all from the Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard in the Edna Valley. Planted in 2005, this vineyard was established using biodynamic farming methods, and was Demeter Certified Biodynamic in 2009 shortly before this harvest.

Traditional winemaking techniques included open-top fermenters, 40% whole clusters, native yeasts, and manual punch downs. The wine was aged for 16 months in both Ermitage and Francois Freres French oak barrels of which 50% were new oak.

A classic, cool-climate Syrah, with rich notes of spiced blackberry and a peppery finish. This wine pairs beautifully with robust pulled pork dishes, and is ready to drink upon release, or will age gracefully over next 8-12 years.
