The fruit for the 2017 Cabernet Franc was sourced from Caldwell Vineyard and was harvested by hand on a picking date based on skin maturity. Fermentation took place in oak conical fermenters with 100% whole cluster and completed after 19 days when the wine was then left to age in 600L French oak demi-muids for 16 months.

John Caldwell is known by many names but here in legendary Napa Valley, he’s a legend all his own. Over the last 40 years, John has built Caldwell Vineyard into what is arguably one of the greatest and most unique wine estates on earth, with 28 different clone-specific grape varieties. Planted in 1982, Caldwell has been the grape source for some pretty heavy hitters over the years, including: Moone Tsai (Philippe Melka), Merus and Brion (Mark Herold), Pahlmeyer (Helen Turley), Patz and Hall, Joseph Phelps’s Insignia, Stéphane Derenoncourt and a heap of others.
