Mission Codename Cultzler
Pinot lovers go crazy when they hear the Kanzler name. Rightfully so, as it’s one of the most sought after Pinot Noir vineyards in California, with a long waiting list to source fruit from. Among the visionaries who saw the potential of this site early and made their share of cult wines from it are; Kosta Browne, Rivers Marie, Lynmar, Kutch, to name a few. While the winery proudly continues to honor their long term agreements with these hotshot winemakers, Alex Kanzler has risen as a new generation to join them, as they have been holding back some of their favorite fruit to make a Kanzler Family Pinot Noir since the 2004 vintage. Made only in tiny quantities, this well-aged library offering is a real treat.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
91 Points – Wine Spectator - “Clean and centered on ripe cherry, plum and blueberry notes, with a dusty earth edge and tannins that grow and cling in a pleasing manner. Drink now through 2020.”
90 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate - “Shows attractive earthy notes, sweet berry fruit, spice box, cherries and forest floor. Complex, aromatic, rich and medium to full-bodied, this is a beauty to drink over the next 5-7 years.”
90 Points – Wine Enthusiast - “This outgoing and full-bodied wine has a lot going for it. Fruity, enticing aromas lead to fully ripe flavors that suggest plums and fresh strawberries, with a suave and supple texture.”
