Mission Codename By the beard of Poseidon!

“A whimsical, child-like exuberance that is impossible to miss.” – Wine Advocate

Arrrrrr you ready, scallywags?

Seven and five hundred days it’s been with nary a scrap o’ dry land in sight - err, I mean a TreasuRed on the site - and the foul creeping signs o’ scurvy have been brewin’ amongst the crew…

Until this very day, when the northern winds carried whispers of a narrow porthole o’ chance to haul our most beloved grog aboard from the legendary mermaid o’ the wine dark sea… by Blackbeard’s ghost, it’s booty time. Shiver me timbers, a new Pirate has dropped anchor!

In plain English, we plundered a brand-new vintage of the most creative red blend from Heidi Barrett, but also a couple other treasures 🪎 of the vinous kind can be found here in the Store for the day. It’s a Barrett celebration with something for every budget. Normally $65, but what’s normal these days? Overrated!

Yet, this is seriously underrated. 91 points? C’mon Joe, is the bottle too quirky to go any higher? Still though, thanks for confessing that this beauty is “a credit to owner-winemaker Heidi Barrett and her growers that she’s able to build this level of quality into a wine at this price level.”

That’s the full retail they’re talking about, not our crazy deal today. With $30 going right back into your pocket the obvious move is to finance a few more bottles of Barrett & Barrett. 😈

Superstar winemaker/swashbuckler Heidi Barrett (yes, of Screaming Eagle, etc. fame) makes some absolutely thrilling, elegant, and ultra-polished wines under her own La Sirena label. But THIS has to be one of the most fun, yet dead-serious and downright “Heidilicous” bottles she makes. If you like kitchen sink blends marrying art and science with endless creativity, you’re in for a serious treat.

It’s extracted and plush, with a lavish dose of ripe black fruit laced with earthy accents. Hedonistic is the word here. Certainly not for anyone who wants a mild-mannered, light tipple… nope, this one delivers a thunderclap of flavor. The squat 750ml bottle flaunts a heaping basket of blueberry and smashed black cherry pie, pie crust and all, with some cassis and licorice, and all manner of dense, mouth-coating fruit, leather and spice. All are balanced with round tannins and expansive fruit, never seeming heavy. Just a straight-up sexy fruit-bomb crowd-pleaser you can’t help but love.

Avast ye salty bilge rats! Stash this gold away like the devil himself be chasin’ sunrise!

91 Points – Wine Advocate “La Sirena is the personal label of Heidi Peterson Barrett, probably better known for her consulting work over the years at such properties as Dalla Valle, Grace Family, Revana, Screaming Eagle and many more. Recent years have seen her cutting back on the number of consultancies. ‘Last year, I had to get a new knee, so I realized I couldn’t do as much as I was,’ said Barrett, as we tasted the wines at a private venue in downtown Napa. That said, Barrett has recently purchased a winery and tasting room - the old T-Vine facility at the entrance to Calistoga. ‘I’ve been in the business for years, and now I’ve finally been able to hang my shingle on my own place,/ she said. On this occasion, we focused our tasting on Barrett’s less expensive offerings, which are largely sourced from outside of Napa. An avid helicopter pilot, one suspects she’s able to save a bit of commuting time when going around to sample fruit from these far-flung sources. The 2022 Pirate TreasuRed, is a blend that includes unspecified percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Grenache sourced from regions as diverse as Amador and Santa Barbara, as well as including some fruit from Calistoga. No single varietal character really dominates, and the wine delivers notes of red berries and cherries, some herbal streaks reminiscent of tea leaves and hints of blueberries. Immediately approachable, this medium- to full-bodied wine is silky, bright, and refreshing on the finish. It’s a credit to owner-winemaker Heidi Barrett and her growers that she’s able to build this level of quality into a wine at this price level. Drink 2025-2032.”
