Mission Codename And the livin' is easy
Rarely does a Pinot Noir cross our table this good! Summerland has been around and rocking the Central Coast for decades, and we’re thrilled to bring them back to the front lines of Wine Spies.
With vineyard neighbors including Radian and Bentrock vineyards, it’s not surprising this wine delivers the goods. But in all honesty, we were not expecting a Pinot THIS tasty. We grabbed all we could out of their library, leaving nothing behind. You reap the benefit today, with 60% OFF the release price.
We’re not the only fans. Check the quote from Mr. Parker’s Wine advocate about Summerland, “Elegant wines that display impeccable winemaking and a successful attempt to produce wines of good balance and charming personalities.”
With massive savings dropping it to a crazy low $26, this will be one of the best Pinot Noir values we’ll see this year, guaranteed. It would not be an exaggeration to call Nebil “Bilo” Zarif the unofficial “wine mayor of Santa Barbara”, where his pride and joy Summerland remains a hugely popular winery since 2002, cherished by locals and elite wine lovers, particularly in the glamorous realms of Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Bilo and his Old World trained winemaker Etienne Terlinden are true pioneers in sourcing from some of the Central Coast’s great hidden vineyards.
Santa Rita Hills is a truly unique and special AVA and we love the Pinots born from here. Sultry and rich, with terrific lift and brightness, too. As one of the only California AVAs with an East West transverse orientation, it is perfectly situated to benefit from the coastal influence and bright valley sunshine. This makes for the perfect Pinot Noir growing conditions and this wine is the ultimate example.
This exhibits a dense plum / purple color with a gentle fading to the broad rim glowing a subtle garnet. Out of this world aromas of wild raspberries, dried mushrooms, and subtle fresh wood spice. Have you ever had a Pluerry?!? A plum and cherry hybrid, and it is so apparent in the elegant palate of Pinot Noir. Silky tannins, bright acid and so many layers lead to stunning overall balance.
Be quick - production is light on this and their cellar stash reflects that. We got what we could!
