Mission Codename Where the Red Fern Grows
One Guarachi down, one to go.
Maybe you scored the 2019 we rolled out last year. Or maybe you know that everything Guarachi makes simply CRUSHES it.
Or maybe you haven’t tried them yet and you need that “first hit” to understand that you’ll be chasing the dragon every sip after until the bottle is empty (it won’t take long).
Whatever the case, here’s another “wicked humdingah” Pinot as they say in Boston. And if they don’t say that already, they will be when I land at Logan with a few of these in tow because I already secured a few for a trip back east. It’s SO good!
It checks ALL the boxes.
With a rockstar winemaker sourcing terrific fruit sourced from the NEWEST AVA in Oregon, there’s a lot to like here. Oh, and the scores.
And best of all, it’s more than HALF OFF for you fine-looking Operatives joining us today!
Back in 2019 the beloved Guarachi Family went on a mission to Oregon seeking some epic fruit. That epic fruit comes from Oregon’s newest AVA, the Mount Pisgah of Polk County (we know, it’s a mouthful). With the guidance of winemaker Julian Gonzalez straight from the school of Paul Hobbs having made these wines side by side for years, they always hit it out of the park wherever they go.
This new hot spot for Pinot, minted in 2022, is characterized by the warmth of the Willamette River, the influence of Van Duzer winds, and the protective rain shadow of Laurel Mountain. It’s a tiny AVA inside of Willamette Valley but they are packing in as much awesomeness as possible with dense planting.
This new bottling is quickly becoming a favorite among the lineup, and Tasting Panel wrote in a previous 99-point review: “this may just be one of the best Pinot Noirs we’ve tasted from the Willamette Valley.”
WOW. High praise.
Read that again - and consider some of the heavyweight (and stratospherically priced) Pinots from the area like Antica Terra, Beaux Frères, Bergström, Domaine Drouhin, etc. The Forbes list of 30+ of the best examples had but one or two for lower than this, just sayin’.
Off the charts with flavor. A rush of dark cherry, forest floor straight from heaven, and freshly tanned leather lure you in. On the palate, this is complex with subtle tannins and gorgeous, bright acidity. Think intense cranberry, black tea, baking spices, and a DEEP well of raspberry preserves. Simply brilliant!
More than half off on this beauty is INSANE. Do not pass go without loading up!
95 Points – Tasting Panel “Steeped in red tea, wild strawberry, and cinnamon, this finely crafted Pinot Noir aged 12 months in French oak displays an elegantly earthy persona. Its juicy flow leads to a prolonged finish of violets and stony minerality.”
