“Classically styled wines that represent great value.” – Wine Advocate

This is a big day. For Cab lovers, for Bordeaux aficionados! For us Agents, and you, Operatives. The aforementioned great value has become a BOGO offer of sorts, read on…

A succulent Cab Blend with so much pedigree and massive 97 points! And triple 95s as if it wasn’t convincing enough. If you were a horse, it’s time to drink because we led you to the good stuff.

Wine Spies is first to market with this epic vintage at the best price you’ll find now… or later!

Gonzague and Claire Lurton of Château Haut-Bages-Libéral in Pauillac and Château Durfort-Vivens in Margaux set their sight on making wine in California. And they hooked up with master of the craft Pierre Seillan of Verité - their neighbor - to make it happen. With countless 100-pointers, he established Verité as the crown jewel of Sonoma while helping the Lurtons on Chalk Hill to establish Trinité Estate. With a deep history in Bordeaux, and the help of Pierre, destined to reach the stars.

To take things home, the Lurtons hired the globetrotting consultant enologist Éric Boissenot for overseeing it, who sets aside the time the project deserves, while also busy with the likes of Châteaux Latour, Lafite, Margaux, Mouton, Palmer, Pichon, Léoville, Ducru… and on and on!

And this vintage, with enough Cabernet Sauvignon to call it the varietal on the label, is a perfect example of all those possibilities. Lush, polished, and rich, showing like a true old-world Bordeaux beauty with fresh California flair to spare. Expect lots of blackberries, plums, and dried herbs with dusty nuances of spice and earth. Warm tones here play nicely with the elegant structure and layered complexities. It makes you want to cook up an elaborate feast all day to savor with friends or family. Again, 97 points, under $50 - buy with reckless abundance.

What Decanter said, “Acaibo is really developing a lovely signature with great consistency.”

This is the insider tip. The good stuff. The straight dope. \And most importantly, an insane value for a beautiful Cabernet!

97 Points – Wine Enthusiast “Very dry, very deep, very structured, this imposing wine is drenched in firm tannins that will need at least a decade to resolve for optimum drinking. Intense blackberries, blueberries and black figs have the power to outlast the tannins. Made with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 12% Merlot. Best from 2030-2040.”

95 Points – Decanter “Smoked berries, cherries, blackcurrants, a dark fruit profile on the nose with chocolate, tobacco and clove elements. Supple and generous, controlled on the palate, almost sombre, doesn’t shout out but delivers a really poised, calm energy with a full palate of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit that is cushioned by almost plush tannins but that keep a vein of minty freshness so nothing feels too much. Well worked, confident but without trying too hard. I like the blue fruit juiciness you get on the mid palate, with chalky tannins and gentle dried herbs - mint, sage and rosemary that give the grip and the frame. Nicely presented and overall really cooling in the mouth. Very complete, filling, generous but poised and finessed. Totally delicious and tastes very Bordeaux-like. Owners Claire and Gonzague Lurton, technical director Nicolas Vonderheyden. Drink 2025-2040.”

95 Points – Inside Bordeaux “Beautiful and impressively consistent estate located in the Chalk Hill area of Sonoma, this manages to convey cooly confident fresh plum, cassis and blackberry fruits even in the hot summer of 2017, a real achievement that makes for a supremely enjoyable wine. There is tannic frame here, some earthy and floral notes, gently brushed with sage, eucalyptus and white pepper spice. 65% new oak, great stuff from owners Claire and Gonzague Lurton, technical director Nicolas Vonderheyden.”

95 Points – James Suckling “I like the fine velvety tannins and freshness to this wine. Medium to full body. The flavors of currants and pine needles are attractive. Hints of spice and red tile. A blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon, 13% cabernet franc and 12% merlot. Lovely to drink now but will improve with age. Needs time to soften but already impressive. Try after 2025.”
