Mission Codename Renaissance for a song
“This type of opportunity only comes along for vineyards of this quality, perhaps every 50 years.” – Jayson Woodbridge
You’ve probably heard of him. When it comes to cult California wine production, he’s THAT GUY.
The guy whose Hundred Acre reds go for well north of $500/bottle. The guy who’s same Hundred Acre wines just made history by going six-for-six in nabbing perfect 100-point scores from major wine critics in the 2021 vintage (adding to his already stacked trophy case of 100-point awards… seriously, where does he find the room… Woodbridge is gonna need his own wing in the wine hall of fame…)
Anyway, that guy was so impressed with the Calistoga vineyard that created these wines on offer today that he bought it last year, along with the winery!
That winery is Madrigal, and that wine is their power-packed 2019 Estate Petit Verdot.
Madrigal has been farming in Napa Valley since the 1930s, establishing their own family company during Napa Valley’s formative days in the 1970s, and then their own winery when they acquired some prime vineyards formerly owned by the one-and-only Duckhorn (maybe you’ve heard of them, too?) They’ve been in the Petit Verdot game for decades, perfecting it further and further with each vintage, hanging with it long after most of their Napa compatriots threw in the PV towel (the grape is notoriously difficult to grow, even in Napa Valley).
Their persistence paid off in a BIG way here. The chocolate, coffee bean, lavender, and vanilla are like stepping into a boutique coffee shop. It’s a palate that you almost dive into like a swimming pool, with inky depths of black cherry fruit flavor, savory licorice and anise spices, and tannins that wrap around you like the tentacles of a giant squid. This is a quality level that feels inescapable, in the best ways!
Our verdict after sipping this one: Madrigal clearly knows what’s up when it comes to PV, and Jayson Woodbridge clearly has a good thing on his hands now. No wonder he said “I watched the vineyard at Larkmead Lane corner for 30 years. I have been seriously looking at Madrigal for several years. This is some of the best ground in the valley.”
THIS OFFER is your chance to get your hands on it, with a whopping 65% discount - is there a more compelling way to experience why THAT GUY felt compelled to buy THAT VINEYARD? Nope!
