Mission Codename Ample bramble
“If you’re a hedonist who loves big, jammy Zins, don’t miss the wines from Wilson.” – Wine Spectator
We heard you, Ops. Loud and clear. Many times.
We’re tapping into the furthest recesses of your Zin-starved brains today!
You wanted more Wilson Zins. You NEEDED more Wilson Zins. The craving is real.
Operative Beck says, “the Zins of Wine Spies have been stellar” Operative Chin adds “I was a member at Wilson/Mazzocco for years… you really can’t go wrong with any of their Zins.” Pete has even gone so far as to try to negotiate his own deal to get more for us.
Many other Ops rave:
“Had this gem tonight - am mad that I did not order more…”
“Wowwwwww. This wine doesn’t suck. Thanks, WS. Phenomenal.”
That’s just a smattering of past comments about Wilson Zins from the Operative Hangout.

What do Williams Selyem, T-Vine, and Amphora have in common? They have all made Forchini Old Vine Zinfandel! Super sought-after fruit comes at a price. This one WAS $45 and NOW $25?!
Certified by the Historic Vineyard Society for its vines dating back to the 1910s, it’s acclaimed for characteristics of “intense fruit, with flavors of mixed raspberry, blackberry, cherry, and spice.”
Which is exactly what we found in this one, as the collective jaw of our panel dropped with the weight of the bramble fruit. Lip-smacking acidity complements sappy tannins, with an herbal lift on a finish layered with complexity, persistently inviting back for more and more re-sips. You’ll be AMAZED.
They are not easy to get. Everyone we laid our eyes and hands on last year sold out. You’ll recall that over many years, this icon sold through mountains of Zinfandel with ease through a devout mailing list. Alas, times have changed as we were granted access to these extraordinary wines while they last, at prices that the said mailing list would dream of.
Wilson delivers every time. Reliable as you can get, really.
This small portfolio of boutique wineries has been hugely popular year after year since their humble beginnings in the early 1990s. These wines regularly score big in the mainstream publications like Wine Spectator and have literally hundreds of Gold Medals from local competitions. They are unrivaled, just like their other acclaimed sister properties: Mazzocco, Matrix, Pezzi King, and Rockpile to name a few.
Up there with the best of the best, these give serious RIDGE, Biale, Beekeeper, Martinelli, Rosenblum or Turley kinda hall-of-fame Zin vibes. No wonder they’ve scooped up every local award since 1993!
Did we say $25??? MADNESS! This too will go fast, Wilson-style.
