“I had one bottle of it and was amazed. I would like to buy more if it ever comes up on WS.”

And dozens of other Ops in our ever active and growing Facebook group where the vibes are “immaculate” as the kids say. If you’re among the legion of thirsty Operatives who keep blowing up the DMs, dropping comments, and politely hinting/demanding you want more Adversity, guess what?
Today is your day!
And oh… You thought the challenging 2020 vintage was great? Prepare to have your dome blown at this one. No scores on this vintage, but the previous one earned a healthy 97 and by our standards, this seems right in line, if not even more “Bevan-esque!”
Per Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “For those unfamiliar with Bevan’s winemaking style, these are rich, full-throttle red wines made from vineyards chosen/managed for lower-than-average yields, picked at high levels of ripeness, fermented using a yeast strain originally isolated from Williams Selyem and aged in high proportions of new French oak - Taransaud and Darnajou for the Bordeaux varieties. Somehow, despite pushing the various elements to the max, the wines emerge with a delicious sense of harmony and balance.”
And Bevan has done it again. What do you expect, though? The guy is a force to be reckoned with and throws down massive scoring wines year after year under labels like Bevan Cellars, Harbison, Tench, Lerner Project, PerUs, Chase, Elyse, Addax… along with others.
If you like your Cabs big, full throttle, packed, stacked, and jacked to the gills with fruit and complexity, he’s your guy.
And this is your wine.
The Twin, is inspired by Russell’s wife and her twin sister. As twins do, it unites two equally outstanding vineyards in one: Sugarloaf Mountain and Phelan Ranch. The result is an opulent, powerful red made exactly as you expect Russell Bevan to do it. It opens right up with a wide swath of cherries drenched in dark chocolate, cassis, shaved pencil lead, beautifully lifted violets, and a dusting of lavender. Similar to what Jeb Dunnuck wrote for the 2021, “The Twin is another seriously good wine from this terrific label. As with all of Russell’s wines, it’s full-bodied and powerful, with terrific purity…”
Basically, the latest Wine Independent interview says it all: “What’s the opposite of a shrinking violet? A stampeding rosé? Whatever it is, that’s Russell Bevan. Larger than life and known for his pedal-to-the-metal winemaking style, Russell is also an incredibly creative and meticulous winemaker with a keen nose for singular vineyard sites.”
With so little of this made, and even less delivered to our warehouse, there’s little chance it lasts the day. Taking bets on sell out time by… 1 pm PST perhaps?
