Mission Codename Our FIRST Choice
CLASSIFIED! This is one for the record books!
It’s the only way they let us give you this EPIC deal. 70% off retail pricing?! Wow…. That’s $111 OFF for you today. Who loves ya?
For reasons that will soon become clear, these wines are so good, so scarce, and so exclusive that they must hide behind a closely guarded veil of secrecy.
Some wineries are very price-sensitive since their mailing list members would go ballistic seeing a deep deal on it.
And we like to play nice. We also like to fight hard for your rights to glorious wines at insane deals.
Everybody wins.
So once again, we’re going full redaction – CLASSIFIED – über-top-secret black ops mission style.
Revealing the name would put our livelihood at stake. Our industry is built on relationships and not wanting to ruffle feathers, sometimes it’s a necessary precaution to redact some of the information.
HOWEVER, we can drop a couple of MAJOR clues, and the savviest of you may figure it out. In fact, even the thickest-skulled, smooth-brained Ops out there will probably figure this one out…we’re making it easy today.
Let’s first get to the right location. Travel to California’s Central Coast with us. Not only home to Hearst Castle and a massive number of Monarch Butterflies during December (fun fact) but also home to this PREMIERE winery with international esteem. In the heart of the Central Coast, we find Edna Valley, right near the town of San Luis Obispo and perfectly situated to enjoy coastal influence. A phenomenon known as the Pismo Venturi effect clears the evening fog from the valley which allows sunshine to ripen delicate varietals.
As Vinous said “The spare-no-expense policies (here) mean that the wines are never cheap, but they are consistently among the most impressive, often flamboyant Pinot Noirs being made.”
The next clue? Their winemaker has been with the estate for decades and works closely with the proprietors to ensure the highest quality. Before this gig, the winemaker made their way through names like PlumpJack, Cade, Far Niente, Duckhorn, and Hafner as well as Domaines Croix Maro and de la Valmale in France. A pretty nice resume as far as we’re concerned!
Need more information!? How about 96 points from Robert Wine Advocate stating that it, “paints a beautiful picture of the potential for excellence in Edna Valley,” but we won’t give you the whole review.
One last hint - we offered a Pinot from them not long ago and many of our Facebook group members have posted about it with rave reviews.
Moving along…the wine? Think black and red cherries, fresh tobacco and cola aromas. The actual tasting notes from our Spes tasting included a word we can’t use here and “PROFOUND.” Layers and layers, earth, fruit and literal magic.
Did we say 70% in savings?! Not that it really matters as it will sell out soon, but did you figure it out yet? Still stumped? Head over to the Facebook group and check out the latest posts - crowdsource the answer…
A good Operative always makes sure they bought enough first though.
