Mission Codename Collision course
Occasionally, a wine lands in your life like a meteor, streaking across the night sky: rare, explosive, and impossible to ignore.
Rare as a meteorite, powerful as a cosmic collision, and guaranteed to make your cellar look like a well-curated museum. All hail… HAILSTONE!! A Mount Veeder Cab has entered our atmosphere, and the retail price of $150 melted away as it made its way to a safe landing in our warehouse, losing nearly $100 OFF the OG price.
Train your spyglasses on this one, because Hailstone’s ‘Impact’ Mount Veeder Cab is exactly that kind of vinous celestial event (and yes, our tasters are seeing stars… ones that probably aren’t actually there.) From the stellar ‘22 harvest, where the fruit shines bright. Yes, please!
Speaking of stars, let’s spend a second talking about Hailstone’s dynamic consulting winemaker duo, Tim Milos and Chad Alexander. You know Tim, a Napa veteran with 25 years under his belt, Opus One, S. Anderson, Cliff Lede, Black Coyote, Banshee, Stewart Cellars, Hidden Ridge, and on, and on. His partner in crime boasts Dolum, Robert Craig, and Hess Collection on his resume, just to name a few.
Chris and Jessica Sazo launched Hailstone in 2012 with a single goal: craft top wines that leave a lasting impression. What started as one-of-a-kind gifts for Chris’ restoration clients in Texas has evolved into a boutique, fiercely curated wine program. Jessica personally customizes every wine club shipment and keeps production tighter than the orbit of Mercury. With no retail distribution and only select restaurant placements, bottles like this appear as fleetingly as shooting stars.
The wine itself delivers everything you want from top-tier Mount Veeder Cab: rich, dense, and polished, with blackcurrant and dark plum fruit, hints of graphite and forest floor, and velvety, layered tannins that make your palate sit up and take notice. The mountain’s altitude and well-drained soils give the wine both power and finesse, with a freshness that carries from the first sip to a lingering, stellar finish.
Tiny production, high elevation fruit, a presence that instantly elevates a cellar from ‘nice’ to ‘sublime.’
At a winery release price of $150 (MUCH more on top restaurant wine lists) and production as scarce as meteor fragments in a crater, this is a Napa mountain marvel almost impossible to track down. We’ve secured a small stash for our insiders at $52. Now it’s your turn to take it home.
