Mission Codename Liter-ally
Here’s a math puzzle:
What’s more than a THIRD OFF but a THIRD MORE at the same time?
We got you! THIS!!!
Always overdelivering, with one undervalued or underappreciated gem after another, this is the very first time in our HISTORY that The Wine Spies lands a ONE FULL LITER of a deal. That’s such a relief because if a rosé this yummy was any less, it’d create all kinds or sharing squabbles and quarrels. Bitte schön.
Zweigelt is fun to say. Try it out - zuh-why-gelt. It’s also super hip. Zweigelt makes taste buds super happy, and for anyone who has not experienced the staggeringly pure fruit and zippy brilliance of Austrian wines like this, today you can end that drought once and for all!
Biodynamically grown just outside of Vienna, obsessively pampered and farmed only to make this one of a kind rosé. So little is imported, and pre-pandemic almost exclusively for by the glass programs at fine wine bars and restaurants, that the importer has not submitted this for reviews and ratings much, yet priorly proven itself with consistent 90+ scores.
Blood orange, strawberry, cranberry, rose water, mint and spice are all found on the nose here. Electric acidity with tons of juicy citrus, including a mild, pleasant pith piquancy wrap up the palate. Surprisingly long on the finish, with a creamy middle that extends the iced tea mouthfeel. This super versatile bright pink drink is ready to tingle the palate with ease and utmost pleasure.
Here are a few quotes of praise from other vintages to give you an idea on what to expect:
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – “Austrian wine growers have demonstrated repeatedly that their indigenous red crossing can taste great in pink, and the Hofers’ Zweigelt Rosé will prove a treat!”
Vinous – “Intensely perfumed aromas of black raspberry, orange zest, white flowers and minerals show very good clarity and lift. Silky and pure, boasting very good depth to its red and dark berry flavors sharpened by white pepper. This emphatically fruity wine finishes with strong punch and excellent spice-tinged persistence.”
Wine Enthusiast – “Just-ripe strawberries rule nose and palate, where they are joined by citrus freshness and the tart but rounded richness of rosehip tisane. Fresh and dry, this pretty, pale-pink wine is made for the table.”
You get the picture, it’s a sure bet so get a clickin’. The rest of summer awaits, but not for too long!
