Mission Codename Siñgular
And it happened…
We did it, dear Operatives, the unthinkable is here, the unimaginable is today.
Drumroll… for Cyber Monday 100 Pointer Madness!!!
Well, almost. 100 pointers are SO difficult to source with value attached, that the Holy Grail kept hiding from us. Up until the last minute we thought we had a perfect FIVE of them lined up, until we lost one to demand growing bigger than a tsunami and prices rising taller than a skyscraper. Instead, we slipped in a lousy 99 pointer, to see if you can find it. How cruel is that? 😈
These all have big reviews across all wine media, including our personal raves, but since they each are leaders in their own categories, and drinking them often leaves tasters speechlessly crippled for words, we’re gonna keep things simple by just showing you the biggest points here. After all, there is not much left to argue with a perfect score, as when it comes to the very best of the best, less is more.
The greatest accomplishment is NONE of these being over the buck a point mark, in other words, they offer at least a point of score per dollar spent, if not double that ratio, which is SUPER RARE in the whole wide world of wine!
Onto our glorious feature… the singular Seña!
If this had Napa or Bordeaux on the label the price would be 2-3x higher. There is a strong argument to be made that this is Chile’s singular best wine. Period. Perhaps beyond? At $150 the value is there, and at under $100 it’s in a league of its own.
The pros agree, with many other huge scores backing it up. A rocking, rollicking good Bordeaux blend. If there is a Southern Hemisphere First Growths League, this one crowns it.
100 Points – James Suckling
“This is a very thoughtful Seña that shows unique aromas of warm earth, mushrooms and conifer, turning to dark berries and black olives. The palate is more glamorous with ultra-fine tannins that envelop your palate. Shows power and vibrancy at the end. Toned muscles. It’s a very intellectual wine that harkens back to the 2015. Blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Malbec, 15% Carmenère, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. Beautiful to try now, but better after 2023.”
