Mission Codename Mott's on steroids
Are you in the “ABC” crowd?
No, not “anything but Chardonnay” …we’re talking about “Always Buying Chardonnay”! Because we’re here for you if you love that rich, ripe, hedonistic California style nectar. Don’t let anyone shame you! This stuff is utterly delectable. With 92 points and priced to move at $19 you simply cannot do better.
Jigar is the definition of a small family run operation, pioneered by Patel Jigar and his wife Stephanie, a relatively new, up and coming discovery you need to know about. The production is miniscule, sourcing from some of the most sought-after top vineyards around, including Graham Family, Chenoweth, and of course Peters, a beloved source for the likes of Anthill Farms and Papapietro Perry.
Yeah, we’re talking the true essence of Russian River here, a pristine single vineyard expression of what makes this region famous. The style leans toward the buttery and rich side of the spectrum, but it’s not overblown. It launches into a full-scale attack of ripe pear and pineapple up front, lemons, brioche, freshly juiced and baked green, golden and red apples, along with butterscotch flanking from all sides. Yet, it brings enough acidity to keep it all lively and flowing along smoothly through the intense finish that leaves the palate yearning for more. Interestingly, the Peters vineyard was once a famed Gravenstein apple orchard, so maybe that explains some of the fantastic, intense baked apple notes we get??
Now excuse us while we plan dinner tonight. Thinking this will go nicely with prawns wrapped in bacon, skewered with pineapples, grilled and drizzled with a balsamic glaze. Oh yes!
Get your fill of this beauty! Can’t click for you, of course…
92 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Made from grapes grown on a former Gravenstein apple orchard, this white offers perfumed and earthy elements of apple blossom and geranium with a bright lifted midpalate of lemony citrus and pear. Integrated oak gives it oomph without distraction making for a complete experience that’s soft and crisp.”
