Tom Hyland of Forbes recently wrote, “Barolo is one of the world’s most iconic and sought after red wines. Media, wine buyers and consumers the world over look each year to discover what glories the latest vintage will bring. Well, for those looking for examples of Barolo that are truly memorable, you won’t have to wait much longer… I can confirm that 2016 is an outstanding vintage, one with great varietal purity, impressive structure and wonderful cellar potential.”
In a follow up article he added, “Several producers told me that their versions of Barolo from 2016 are among the best they have ever made… Fratelli Alessandria is a producer of very high quality, traditional Barolo that is ultra-consistent; this family should be better known for their offerings.”
Dreamy! Sensual! A completely mind-bending and transformative experience awaits once you pop the cork. Starting with the gorgeous deep garnet color that gradually fades to crimson at the rim. The divine marriage of bright red fruits, exotic flowers, spices, and tobacco carry from the nose straight to the palate. Massively built tannins on the palate, supple yet agile as a ballerina with superb aromatic lift, finishing clean and refreshing. The endless complexity carries on, and on, lingering long after the very last sip. A stupefying Barolo, a wine for the ages! Should you open it near term, please let it breathe. And then bring on the earthy, meaty goodness for otherworldly pairing experiences.
What Galloni sees as “extraordinary balance and harmony” in 2016 lies before you today. One taste and you’ll agree it deserves every one of the 96 points. You may spot a bottle or two of this gem elsewhere at $50-80 down the road, but we guarantee this is your one shot at cornering the market and scooping up all you can at $39. The value soars WAY off the meter here. Don’t miss out!!

96 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“This is by far the finest set of wines I have tasted from Fratelli Alessandria, and I cannot recommend this estate enough for value-wine seekers and collectors alike. There is something for every Nebbiolo-loving palate in this portfolio, and all these wines hit the ball straight out of the park. Congratulations. This is the classic Barolo from Fratelli Alessandria, made with a blend of fruit from various sites in Verduno. (From the 2017 vintage forward, the new name “del Comune di Verduno” will reflect its origins.) The 2016 Barolo opens to tight elegance and a nervous quality that pits red fruit energy over lean fruit weight. The results are graceful, lithe, fragile and lasting. The wine’s aromas unfolded slowly and seductively, revealing wild berry, cassis, bitter cherry, toasted almond and blue flower. This is a dreamy wine that promises more beauty as it continues its bottle evolution. This is one of the very best values found anywhere in Barolo. Drink 2024-2045.”
