Mission Codename Perfect -1
A few reasons why you should NOT order this:
1. You think mountain-grown, single-vineyard, Atlas Peak Cabernet tastes the same as your average “California” designated Cab from brands that rhyme with shallow.
2. You’ll feel embarrassed pouring a 99 point wine that didn’t cost $200+.
3. You’d rather spend your $57 on five 30-racks of Coors Light.
If those reasons make zero sense, then you should probably jump on this pronto! Because we can’t promise many other 99 pointers under $60 in the coming months. Or years. And if you love all manner of big, rock and roller, coat your molars, stain your shirt, wide load coming through type Cabernet, this one’s for you.
This vintage was spearheaded by none other than the legendary Paul Hobbs who passed the torch to young winemaking Jedi named Julian Gonzalez who carried it across the finish line. He’s a protégé of Hobbs with unmatched experience at prestigious Napa institutions such as Dominus, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, and Louis M. Martini.
Not much else to say here, other than please move quickly. And not much of this one to go around!
99 Points – The Tasting Panel
“Perfumed with night-blooming jasmine, sandalwood and blackberry, this youthful red shows exciting potential for aging beautifully. A bouquet of heather, violets and lilcas is invigorated by minerality from the red-rock volcanic soil and a dusty mouthfeel. This elegant wine shows the intensity of mountain fruit without the overbearing density as Old World acidity and “Old Napa” structure come into play. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for up to 22 months.”
