Mission Codename Bet on me!

I know the seasons are backward down below the equator, but are prices also flipped upside down?? Because we can’t seem to find a single 94 point Cab around these parts for under $20

Whatever. We’re here for it!

Meet your new favorite, Tuesday night goes-with-anything house red. Brothers in Arms is a small family-run operation and according to Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, “the vines on Guy Adams’ estate in Langhorne Creek, including the legendary Metala vineyards, were planted in 1891 by his great, great grandfather. Some of these vines still exist and therefore must be about the oldest Cabernet vines in Australia if not the world!”

That explains the intensity. The deep color yields powerful aromatics which carry into a flurry of deep flavors that include blackberry, warm cassis, black cherry, a dusting of cocoa, a hint of mint, and a refreshing twist of rosemary. In a recent review, Wine Enthusiast called this “high in the bang for the buck category” – and that’s at the retail price. At $19 it’s a screaming good deal. And they went on, calling it a “quintessential South Aussie Cabernet drinking beautifully after eight years of bottle age.” In a perfect drinking window, this is primed for maximum enjoyment the moment it lands on your doorstep. No doubt this is easy drinking stuff…maybe TOO easy in fact!

Let’s recap this in a nutshell:

• Wine Enthusiast 94 Points

• Pure, unadulterated Cabernet Sauvignon from insanely old vines

• Won’t last at $19!!

94 Points, Editors’ Choice – Wine Enthusiast

“This historic winery’s Cab rates high in the bang for buck category. The nose is a deep well of aromas: plum, red currant, cedar, charred beet, iodine and graphite, with bundles of spice. The palate shows Cabernet’s power but with restraint and elegance. Dusty, spicy tannins weave through flavors of spice and cigar box, lifted by juicy fruit. A quintessential South Aussie Cabernet drinking beautifully after eight years of bottle age.”
