Mission Codename Ben Ziggy
Marinated the steaks? Cut the taters? Tossed the salad? Picked the wine? No?! We got you covered…
Benziger! A shining star in the boutique Sonoma wine scene since the 1980s, as “one of California’s highest-profile practitioners of Organic and Biodynamic grape growing and winemaking” according to Wine Spectator
Today we’re proud to drop their 94-point, 100% Organic Reserve Cab right into your lap at HALF PRICE! (Not to be confused with their hugely popular entry-level Sonoma County Cab with an equally artsy but circular label, this wine is made in the smallest of quantities, reserved for tasting room experiences.)
Inevitably with winery visitors down, they had to reallocate such gems. The Sonoma natives we are, deep connections open doors. And thanks to our superb negotiation skills we were able to shave a ton off the retail – an already remarkably reasonable $50 might we add – but today, can you snag it before it’s gone, for just twenty-something.
Who doesn’t know of Benziger? Not Beringer. Not Bonzinger, or Berzinger. BENZIGER. The biodynamic, all-organic California pioneer, a leader in land preservation and stewardship. “We’re not only doing the right thing for the land, but we’re creating high-quality wines that reveal the true nature of the vineyards where the grapes were grown.” says Chris Benziger.
“Ripe and divine” says The Tasting Panel.
At the turn of this century, all that Benziger’s impeccably farmed vines needed to reach the stratosphere was a collaboration with guru consultant David Ramey, whose influence remains evident in the kick-ass wines that sit at the top of their quality pyramid. Like this terrifyingly easy to drink Cabernet.
Inky black at heart with a vibrant ruby rim that circles the glass narrowly. The quintessential Cab nose is what wafts from the glass, with abundant dark fruits, while fresh with minerality. Impeccably balanced on the palate, as proof that perfect grapes make the best wine possible. Nuances of cocoa powder and black tea long prolong the blackberries and plums on the impressive finish. A Cab that is versatile with a sensibility for many pairings, yet unctuously irresistible on its own.
We simply cannot get enough Cab these days, especially when this reasonably priced. No doubt by now a hoard of Operatives are smashing the buy button. Join the party before it’s too late!
94 Points – The Tasting Panel
“An intense perfume of violets, graphite, and black olives meld together in a harmonious bouquet. The elegant tannins are seamless, the dark chocolate pure velvet, and the notes of blackberry and blueberry ripe and divine.”
