Mission Codename U.N.C.L.E.
Lovers of opulent whites. Prepared to be BLOWN AWAY.
Zio Tony. To savvy Chardonnay collectors and fans, this Ranch is where the buck stops.
Robert Parker calls Zio Tony “always one of my favorites.”
And that’s across the board, including all precious renditions by Patz & Hall, Marcassin, and of course Martinelli, the cherished custodian family of this golden plot of Goldridge since 1959.
This legacy site is named after Tony Bondi, the first of the Bondi / Martinelli clan born in American. Zio Tony was the son of Paolo Antoni Bondi and Adele Gemma Cardellini, who emigrated from Italy in the early 1900s. Zio meaning ‘uncle’ in Italian, was a very charismatic man with a big booming voice who loved a good time. He was also the first in the family to plant vine rootstock but passed away in 1971 before his dream of becoming a grape grower was fulfilled.

93 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The 2015 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch has a gregarious nose of ripe melons, pineapple and green mango with hints of buttered toast, acacia honey and candied ginger. Medium-bodied, the palate offers great finesse with the intense flavors beautifully focused by racy tension, and it finishes with persistent mineral and spice layers. Drink 2017-2025.”
93 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“A salty air of quince and tart lemon give life and freshness to this focused and expansive white, from a site long farmed by the Martinelli family in the heart of the appellation. Green apple and nutmeg add secondary characteristics, as toasted oak appears on the lengthy finish.”
