Mission Briefing

Jonesin' on Jones

Before we dive in, we need to know…

Can we trust you to keep this SECRET?

Because today, for the first time in our 10+ year history, we have an authentic, genuine TRB Cab!!! That’s Thomas Rivers Brown for anyone wondering. Only the most prolific, revered, and talented winemaker in Napa. The guy responsible for we lost track of how many 95-100 pointers.

Here’s the deal. We negotiated our butts off to even get any of this triple-93-point Jones Cabernet. This wine is highly limited, NEVER discounted, and as part of the deal, we cannot include it anywhere on the homepage. So we’re sneaking you, our most discerning Napa Cab loving Operatives, a direct link to a landing page HERE for a chance to get it.

Yeah, that Bond flick comes to mind: FOR YOUR EYES ONLY!

For three decades Jones Family has remained a blue-chip classic collector favorite.

Robert Parker set the stage for their inaugural 1996 vintage, saying “This project will be interesting to follow. The hillside vineyard south of Calistoga and north of St. Helena has been developed by famed vineyard manager David Abreu. Renowned winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett runs the show in the cellar. This limited-production Cabernet Sauvignon is already drawing attention in insider circles.”

And they never skipped a beat since as the Wine Advocate recently added: “I have always liked these wines from Jones Family… located off Bale Lane in Calistoga and was planted to all five Bordeaux varieties by David Abreu in the early 1990s. Heidi Barrett made the wines until 2008, and Thomas Rivers Brown now makes the wines.”

Does Napa Cab get any flashier under $100 thanks to our secret insider deal today? We don’t think so.

The critics agree…

93 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a little broody to begin, unfurling to reveal notions of baked blackcurrants, Black Forest cake and stewed red and black plums with touches of dried Mediterranean herbs, tilled soil and Chinese five spice. Full bodied, rich and plushly textured, the palate delivers a wonderfully hedonic experience with a long spicy finish. Drink 2019-2028.”

93 Points – Antonio Galoni’s Vinous

“I was very happy to see that these wines from Jones Family Vineyard have come together very nicely over the last year. Thomas Rivers Brown makes the Jones Cabernets in a rich style that conveys the natural intensity of Calistoga nicely. Compelling, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a dark, muscular wine. Black cherry, tobacco, cedar, smoke and game give the Estate much of its imposing, brooding personality. Firm tannins and intense fruit add to what is a very distinctive, virile feel. Drink 2018-2028.”

93 Points – Wine Spectator

“Made in an ultraripe style, with crushed loganberry, açaí berry and boysenberry fruit flavors dominating throughout. A graphite underlay provides support, revealing loam and tobacco accents on the finish for depth. Not shy, but pulls it off. Best from 2021 through 2030.”
