Mission Codename Red Friday
For this year’s Black Friday, we wanted to do something a little different at Wine Spies. There’s deep discounts all over the internet (and today’s wine has that too), but we wanted to sweeten the deal, and bring you something a little different.
Today we wanted to pay homage to our home: Sonoma County. We commissioned a very cool infographic poster of Sonoma County. It’s beautiful and packed with information about this prestigious winegrowing region, showing you a tremendous amount of detail about each AVA and microclimate in the county, including details such as which varietals are planted, the elevation ranges, the number of wineries, soil types and other fun facts. The poster is large and printed on high quality coated paper. Ideal for framing and hanging in your wine cellar or nook.
The poster today is paired with an appropriate wine: Chateau Diana’s 2017 “707” Sonoma County Pinot Noir, which is itself a homage to the county, featuring a medley of Pinot Noir grapes from around the county and repping the famed 707 area code. Our take on the wine:
This wine is shocking crimson red, a stunning indication of what’s to come as soon as you pour yourself a glass. The nose has it all: Spice, ripe red fruit, and a bit of blood orange citrus. To be sure, the cherry and strawberry notes leap out. The palate is a tour de force of Sonoma County Pinot - lush grape-y flavors with nuances of plum, black cherry, violets and honeysuckle. There’s depth here, with a medium body that hugs the palate evenly, expanding as it moves towards the back for a long and pleasing finish. You’ll want to reprise Thanksgiving dinner, because this Pinot Noir is perfect for the All American Classics found on the table.
Rules: Purchase at least 1 bottle of the 707 Pinot to receive a poster. Limit 1 poster per customer. The poster ships separately in a poster tube.
