Mission Codename Once and always

Next Gen Launch Party Cellar Stocker Days - Day 9!

In a few days the Perseid meteor shower will rain down up to 120 shooting stars per hour.

But TODAY we have a similarly fantastic, nearly inconceivable phenomena about to rain down all manner of vinous delights onto your noggin. We’re turning loose a legion of totally berserk, heavyweight, highly collectible wines.

Welcome to Cellar Stocker Days - Collector’s Edition.

It starts with Stag’s Leap CASK 23, a huge scoring (WS95, JS95, WE96) flagship wine from the Judgement of Paris winning Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, the Store contains an assortment of MEGA CULT CA gems, albeit in small quantities. So, if the FAY version of this and names like David Arthur, Peter Michael, or TOR get you excited, find your way to the store.

And unlike your odds of finding a meteor, you have a way better chance of taking home something special - if you can move fast. And we mean it - less than a case of some of these ultra rare wines available!!

Now, back to the CASK

If Warren Winiarski’s 1973 had not beaten First Growths Haut-Brion and Mouton we would not be here. Think about it. American wine would not be the global thing it is. The revolution this momentous event started put California in the forefront of the prized fine wine regions of our planet. We owe it all to this winery and this event. Bottle Shock the movie documents it all too well.

And here before us is a blue-chip classic that sits right next to Robert Mondavi Reserve, Opus One, Joseph Phelps Insignia, Caymus Special Selection, Chateau Montelena Estate, to name a few of its contemporary counterparts. These wines have never left the hearts of collectors and their well-stocked cellars all across the world. Securing every great vintage can be challenging as demand exceeds supply.

To find ANY of these - let alone at the LOWEST PRICES POSSIBLE… that’s the definition of a no-brainer.

Robert Parker once put it best: “Readers who have followed Stags Leap Wine Cellars’ Cask 23 since the debut vintage of 1974 realize these wines are often deceptively easy to drink when young, yet age amazingly well despite what appears to be their forward, flattering, precocious personalities. This winery enjoys a much deserved fine reputation for its bevy of complex, elegant, authoritatively flavorful red wines, particularly the Fay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and the Cask 23 Proprietary Red Wine, the latter one of California’s benchmark wines.”

Really not much else to say in the presence of such profoundness, we’ll let the press do the talking, if you need further convincing, just make sure you have some in your Locker before getting carried away with the superlatives below, there is no way these will last long.

96 Points, Cellar Selection – Wine Enthusiast

“A 100% varietal wine from the best lots of two of the producer’s prized sites, Fay and S.L.V., this wine is richly expansive in red fruit, balanced by bright acidity and lengthy structure. Clove, black pepper, black olive and a dash of dark chocolate mingle on the palate. Best from 2027-2037.”

95 Points – Wine & Spirits

“On the spring day our panel tasted this wine, sitting outdoors, the breeze picked up as we approached this glass, and it seemed to cool down its intense concentration. As it turned out, that cool concentration stayed with the wine for days after opening, a structural component giving this the clarity and lively power of an epic Cask 23 vintage. Marcus Notaro finalized the blend at 52 percent from S.L.V. and 48 percent from Fay and aged it almost two years in new French oak barrels. The tannins are rich, the aroma smoky, but the bright liveliness of the fruit—the persimmon, the cherry and the fresh cigar tobacco—are the elements that shine through. Youthful and unevolved, this wine is an investment in the future, with patient cellaring required.”

95 Points – James Suckling

“This has a fresh, fruity nose of blackberries, small black cherries, mahogany, anise and crushed hazelnuts. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a creamy, silky texture. Seamlessly smooth, ripe tannins accompany velvety layers of ripe blue and black fruit. Wonderful now or in years to come. Better in 2023.”
