Mission Codename White Wedding
Hey little sister, what have you done?
Hey little sister, who’s the only one?
Hey little sister, who’s your superman?
Hey little sister, who’s the one you want?
Who else but NERI!
Not even a month ago, Neri’s flagship Tenuta Nuova almost crashed the site as a substantial stash of it vanished in a matter of hours. Since then, we hear from you daily for MORE NERI.
We hear you. And we tried.
Best we could do was come REAL close to the Tenuta Nuova, with the workhorse white label classic.
Once again, too many accolades to list. Left us speechless, so let’s go with that mosaic style tasting note again as the press left us a few words to add. “Absolutely outstanding in this vintage (IWR)” it “grabs your attention immediately (D).” “There is a lot to love here (JD)” with “fine depth (WS)” and “clearly one of the finest releases of this (IWR),” “this is a great value. (JD)
But wait, Jeb, you mean the original retail in the upper $70s, how about we go UNDER $50?!! Another no-brainer, investment-grade collectible Brunello at the BEST PRICE ANYWHERE this may go even faster than the Tenuta Nuova… have you checked out yet?
96+ Points – Luca Gardini
“Another successful label that benefits from unique geomorphological and weather conditions. The nose displays aromas of small red fruits with clear balsamic trace. The mouthfeel is both taut and dense with iodized tannins and long persistence.”
95 Points – Wine Spectator
“Shows fine depth, with cherry, black currant and wild herb flavors, accented by iron, earth, leather and tobacco notes. Muscular, despite a slim frame, with a long, savory aftertaste. Best from 2024 through 2045.”
95 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
“The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino has compelling aromatics of cherry liqueur, sweet licorice, cedar, and forested earth. The palate is crystalline and full-bodied, with red plum skin and warming spice. There is a lot to love here, as this wine casts a large net for its versatility. Enjoy some now and lay some down, this is a great value. Drink 2021-2026.”
95 Points – Decanter
“The 2016 vintage was marked by significant day and nighttime temperature differences. Gianlorenzo Neri says this was particularly pronounced in Montalcino’s northeast, where the vineyards for the estate’s ‘white label’ are found. With beautiful focus off the bat, this grabs your attention immediately. Black raspberry and wild cherry give way to liquorice, wet stones and smoke. The fruit is velvety, but quickly hemmed in by powdery, grippy tannins which retreat a bit on the finish, likes waves, leaving rose and violets in their wake. Vibrant and racy. Drink 2023-2039.”
95 Points – International Wine Review
“The 2016 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino is absolutely outstanding in this vintage. This instantly begins to impress as it unwinds beautifully in the glass, releasing gorgeous nuances of dried cherries, raspberries, exotic spices, crushed dried florals, herbs, leather, minerals, cedar and subtle hints of nutmeg all come together to form the wonderful aromatics. On the palate this offers a lovely medium body that is structured with fine grained tannins and displays incredible balance and finesse all the way through the finish. This is already drinking incredibly well at this early stage and is clearly one of the finest releases of this “white label” Brunello I can recall from the Neri Family.”
