Mission Codename Quack!

Pinot lovers!! Are. You. Ready?

Duckhorn in the house! Of course you know the Duckhorn name is synonymous with quality and luxury - but not always affordability. Not for a Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of the Year winner.

Until today.

Not even Total Wine or Costco can bring you this much loved, double-90-point Pinot for a better price.

The Migration label represents their cool-climate Pinot and Chardonnay project. This one combines fruit from several top vineyards (they have some prime access) around Sonoma including Dutton Ranch.

With the inaugural 2012 vintage of the Migration series an ecstatic Robert Parker had declared that “these offerings from the Duckhorn Wine Co. are exceptional Pinot Noirs.”

They really are.

This flaunts an unmistakably pure, ripe, California style but isn’t heavy or overblown in any way. Strawberries and raspberries for days! Black cherry and chocolate, too. Sweet cola and vanilla and just a hint of earthy funk to keep it interesting. Simply flowing with all manner of juicy red and black fruit and ready to please from the moment you pop the cork. We loved it and you will too.

Originally a Napa Valley Bordeaux varietals specialist, the nowadays expansive Duckhorn portfolio includes some killer Pinot Noir labels such as Goldeneye, Calera, and Kosta Browne. This deal brings you that pedigree under $30?! Nuff said.

Crazy good price but not a lot to go around… so grab yours before it “migrates” for good!

90 Points – Jeb Dunnuck

“The appellation 2018 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was brought up all in French oak, with 35% being new. It’s a larger production effort yet delivers impressive quality, with plenty of pretty red and black berry fruit as well as subtle floral nuances. Nicely textured, medium-bodied, with good acidity, and a clean finish, this rock-solid effort has lots of Sonoma Coast character. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years. It’s a step up over the 2017 and a good value. Drink 2020-2025.”

90 Points – Wine Enthusiast

“This wine combines grapes from Dutton Ranch and Running Creek Vineyard, among others, blending them together into a cohesive expression of coastal intensity. Dried herb, black tea and forest floor notes give it a savory edginess matched by dark berry and baking spice.”
