Mission Codename Found & Lost

“Being lost is worth the being found.”

Whoa, Neil Diamond… deep, man. But not as deep as our love for this Pinot.

Normally when we find a wine we love at our tastings, there’s a heated battle for who takes it home.

This time? No battle - in a matter of minutes we passed it around until it was empty.

With fascinating labels that entice, Lost & Found began in 2010 as a project that revived the former Bartolomei (of Farmhouse Inn fame) family vineyards. With help from top sommelier and winemaker Megan Glaab, they pump out some seriously incredible wines, like this one. Glaab has deep experience including stints at Peay, Marcassin, and Pisoni, plus at Ryme Cellars which she co-owns with her husband Ryan, as it clearly shows in this impeccable wine.

Did we say $25 bucks for a PRIME single-vineyard?!

Van der Kamp vineyard always delivers the prime fruit. Brought back to the limelight by a visionary, as attested by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate “Greg La Follette was one of the pioneers of Sonoma and he deserves enormous credit for sourcing potentially brilliant vineyard sites throughout the area.” This site powers some serious Pinots by La Follette, Siduri, Poe, Dutton-Goldfield, 10 Acre, and more, it’s historically distinguished with plantings dating back to 1952 on this high-elevation volcanic hilltop.

This is a big body Pinot. Deep, dark, and lush with balancing acidity, riper fruit, and everything dialed up - but not to deafening levels. It’s LOADED with dark red raspberries, liquified cherry pie, spice cake and cola, red licorice, and rhubarb. The finish is long, deep, and dusty, with just the right touch of earthy, savory, and mineral notes. Just all-around lovely Pinot purity that is too good to crowd with food to be honest, as the sample went down effortlessly before we could even discuss what to pair with it!

When I say we got our cases I mean it - between the Agents here, we snagged around 30 bottles for our own drinking pleasure before we had to put the hard brakes on our appetite just to save YOU some. This might just be one of our all-time most crave-worthy wines.

It’s exactly what so many producers wish they could make, and precisely what you love to drink. Man, just so good.

First come, first served!
