Mission Codename Why? Wairau not!
Monday March Madness - You keep drinking them up, and we keep coming back with more! Spring has sprung. Time to stock up on the pink stuff.
Sometimes a wine hits BIG when and from where you expect least…
While Cirro’s STUNNING top value Sauvignon Blanc stole our hearts, right after that, in the lineup stood this gorgeous looking, yet deceptively unassuming Rosé of Pinot Noir, also from Marlborough.
Our first guess of origin would have been Central Otago, on the same island but on the opposite southern tip, and with a radically different continental climate is world-renown for Pinot Noirs. Meanwhile, smack in the middle of the same Wairau Valley, we were pleasantly shocked to find a similarly juicy Rosé!
Foremost Southern Hemisphere authority Wine Orbit defines it best as “youthfully charming and delightfully drinkable.”
It’s really got the best of both worlds, drinks like a serious white wine, but has a lacy raspberry and iced tea dimension thanks to its impossible to mistaken Pinot-ness. Spring is around the corner, and you will be far better off with a stash of this around to welcome it, take it from us, we did the same.

91 Points – Wine Orbit
“Fresh and brightly expressed, the wine shows crunchy apple, raspberry, lemon peel and floral aromas on the nose, followed by a crisp-dry palate that’s juicy and lingering. Youthfully charming and delightfully drinkable.”
