Mission Codename GraciaNO? GraciaYES!
“One of the best Riojas I’ve had.”
“Wow this wine has it all, fruit bomb, richness, length.”
“Stunning!”
The social reviews seem to agree with the pros and our own assessment. THIS WINE ROCKS.
You know how we found it? Recently Agents Brut & Noir were hunting new deals down at VinExpo NYC when they came across this completely under the radar GEM of an iconic winery and its stunning wines, next thing we know, samples land, and the panel is speechless with the quality and depth!
Oh, Decanter 97 POINTS too. Aged to perfection. A Reserva worthy of deep contemplation and profound enjoyment.
Available NOWHERE but here.
Oh, and the price… forget about the $125 tag. We shaved 50% OFF, naturally.
Everything about this wine, from the noble metal plated label to the juice within, screams power, class. Dripping with style (like me.) Thirteen years old, but still absolutely rocking with full tilt richness, heady aromatics, and a nice background chorus of tertiary nuances developing. Roasted coffee, mixed berry conserves, black cherry and blackberry, toasty vanilla, and sweet turned earth come to mind. Tannins have resolved into fine-grained but announce their presence on the finish.
Bodegas Manzanos started in 1890, and this wine marked its 125th-anniversary release. Today brother Victor and David along with David’s wife Laura run the show and they’ve transformed it into a modern powerhouse.
The blend of Graciano and Tempranillo comes from old vines, planted 40-50 years ago. 36 months in French and American oak, another 2 years in bottle, and the result is nothing short of spectacular.
If you’re looking for something with style that you can break out at your next dinner party or bring to a friend’s house to impress, look no further. This is the one.
Wish they had more!
97 Points – Decanter
“Intensely perfumed with cedar box, dry herbs, and sous-bois. Tannic, solidly built, very serious, quite austere. Needs aeration; with time in the glass, it opens up to reveal a distinctive expression. Surprising red fruit and slightly spicy notes. Long. Drink 2021-2024.”
