We SOLD OUT on our first Marathon, but the Operatives on the live stream spoke and we listened. The rest of the day we have MICA!

Mission Codename Last duck in a row

Three Palms Merlot went first, then the 2018 Cab too sold out.

We have just a smidge of the otherwise bygone 2017 Cab next…

As we stated time and again, Duckhorn’s legacy spans decades. They sit in a pantheon of producers like Silver Oak, Mondavi, and other early pioneers in the Napa Valley.

One more classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from the esteemed producer. This now library 2017 vintage brings 94 points from Wine & Spirits. Like we said, if you like their Merlot, you like their Cab. It’s a simple corollary. Both deliver the goods and will make a statement on the table at any dinner today or 15 years in the future when who knows what this will cost.

Long gone at the winery, last seen at $88 there. We’re letting you walk away with these at the same crazy $57, you’re welcome.

Just like the 2018, and even more so, it has first-growth Bordeaux vibes with subtle red and black fruits tossed up with herbs and minerals. An old-school throwback Napa Valley style, none of the overblown and uber-extracted flair some others need to get attention. Sure, it has loads of ripe fruit too, but it also delivers graphite, tilled earth, violets, and tobacco with penetrating precision, and sexy, toasty oak. It’s a benchmark Cab, a beacon of quality, integrity, and consistency.

As Decanter points out “In 1976 no one could have foreseen how internationally recognizable the lithograph label of a mallard duck would become.” Therefore, we invite you to get your ducks in a row and grab what you can while you can but be quack again!!!

94 Points – Wine & Spirits

“This is a Napa Valley Cabernet that does everything right. Renee Ary blends fruit from Duckhorn’s estate with grapes from growers, including 12 percent merlot to point up the luscious texture, aging it for 16 months in French oak barrels (half of them new), without the wine becoming overtly oaky. It’s a wine of elegance and restraint, delicious in its sweet purple-plum intensity, succulent in its earthy tannins. Those mineral tannins retreat into the finish, allowing the savory fruit to move in. Accessible now, this will only improve with a few years in bottle.”
