Mission Codename Family Operation
For some of us, this was the first time trying the ample but lesser known varietal Aglianico. And boy were we hooked! Known as the father of Aglianico in Taurasi and with 95 points to back it up, Salvatore Molettieri delivers something unique with land that is rooted in tradition.
The Aglianico grape hails from Greece however today is more well known as the noble red grape of Taurasi in southern Italy. Ever since the Molettieri family took over in the 80’s they have since boosted the grapes notoriety and quality in the region.
C’mon open up your mind and palate to a grape varietal that shows a character that few wines possess! At 30% off as well. You will not regret this one.
Dark plumb, blackberry, cigar spices, elevated acidity
*95 Points - Wine Spectator ** *“A deep, plush, full-bodied red, with dense tannins that are well-meshed to flavors of black cherry pâte de fruit, olive paste, cured tobacco, spice box, iron, and graphite. Big and brooding, this nonetheless maintains a sense of elegance throughout. Best from 2022 through 2032. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 1,000 cases made, 100 cases imported. — AN”
94 Points - James Suckling “A very meaty, spicy Taurasi with cedary and tarry accents, highlighting more fruit-driven elements of blackberries and dark cherries. It’s really deep and dense, but remarkably polished and agile for a wine of 15% alcohol and nearly 7 years of age. There’s tension and beauty here, not simply raw power and opulence. Drink now.”
